Frequently Asked
Questions
What do you see as the biggest obstacle facing our
work force?
Without
question the shortage of skills. This has resulted in
the workforce, no matter what the job description, not
having the time or training to
- Identify and understand the real issues (results
in continuous fire-fighting)
- Recognise and address barriers to progress
- Create powerful solutions
- Achieve the level of confidence needed for peak
performance
What is the focus in your design and facilitation
of the training programs that addresses these pressing
issues?
Every
program, no matter what the topic, always begins with
self-assessment exercises.
No one can start to make progress until they have a
clear understanding of their strengths, how to manage
their biggest limitation and have established powerful
personal and professional goals with clear actions required
to achieve these outcomes.
You often refer to "self', what exactly do
you mean?
I have a strong belief that one of our fundamental
needs is to be a confident, contributing human being.
We all want to feel fulfilled and to be part of a dynamic
team. As human beings we are able to successfully face
and overcome obstacles.
However, because we are human, we are also fragile and
vulnerable. All too often we allow ourselves to lose
sight of our goals and this results in self-doubt and
sometimes-even self-loathing taking over our thoughts
and we go into a tailspin of fear, anxiety, and an inability
to take corrective actions.
You have strong views on the creation of an environment
for motivation and for people to earn empowerment?
Absolutely. Trust in any organization is the foundation
of empowerment and motivation.
This can only be achieved when people have open, transparent
communication channels, and are given adequate training
and recognition.
I would like to see more managers attending the same
courses as their support staff.
On the occasions when I have facilitated courses with
people from all levels in the company the outcomes have
been remarkable.
What is your mission for the coming year?
The same as it is every year. I want to help people
to
- Take ownership of obstacles and challenges
- Communicate to achieve expected outcomes
- Generate outstanding results
- Build and sustain relationships
